The Village Cup Regatta will be held in Port Jefferson, NY, on September 7, 2024. Residents and visitors alike are excited to see this year's field race in Port Jefferson Harbor.
The Port Jefferson Yacht Club and the Village of Port Jefferson run the Regatta, which funds two deserving community organizations: Mather Hospital's Palliative Medicine Program and the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
Over the past 14 years, the event has raised $960,000 for cancer research. You can help support cancer patients and families by attending the event, donating to these causes, or participating with a team of sponsors.
About the 15th Village Cup Regatta
The event begins at 9 am with participant registration. Racers start setting up for the Memorial Parade of Boats at 10 am.
The Parade of Boats starts at 11 am. This moving ceremony remembers patients who have lost their lives as a result of pancreatic and other types of cancer. The boat parade is approximately two miles long and visible from Harborfront Park.
The Regatta begins at 1 pm. This year, the Village of Port Jefferson and John T. Mather Hospital are the competitors. Teams of dedicated sailors, joined by sponsors, make their way around Port Jefferson Harbor and out to Long Island Sound in an exciting spectacle for the whole family.
After the race ends, a Skipper's Reception will take place in the Village Center. It starts at 3:30 pm and ends at 6:30 pm, with food, drinks, live music, and raffles. You can attend the reception by donating at least $50 to the cause.
In Harborfront Park, you can find commemorative shirts, hats, mugs, and nautical bags.
Planning Your Visit
The event will occur in Port Jefferson Harbor, in and around Harborfront Park and the Village Center. If you are not sailing with a team, you can watch from Harborfront Park or in a designated viewing area on the water. You will experience a thrilling day in a beautiful environment wherever you watch the event.
Building A Spirit of Community
Events like the 15th Village Cup Regatta help communities unite through competition and supporting worthy causes. Taking the time to remember cancer patients helps their families and friends by showing support.
At Smile Shack, we believe in the value of community spirit. We want our patients, neighbors, and their families to unite and contribute to this vital fight. Pancreatic cancer has no cure and a low survival rate, making it even more critical that community organizations support care and research into this dangerous disease.
