If you’ve made the decision to get Invisalign treatment, congratulations! You’re on the road to straighter teeth and a beautiful smile—without the hassle of traditional metal braces. The next step is to figure out the cost of Invisalign on Long Island. Being in a major metropolitan area, you might assume Invisalign is more expensive here. Is it really? And what kinds of costs can you expect?
Invisalign Cost on Long Island vs. Other Areas
Unlike a gallon of gas or a restaurant meal, the cost of Invisalign isn’t significantly different in Long Island than it is elsewhere in the United States. Much of the cost is determined by Invisalign itself, which has its own pricing structure for the equipment we use and the aligners. The portion of the cost that is a variable is the time spent at our office. As you might expect, a dentist in Long Island charges more per hour than a dentist in a rural area simply because operating expenses in a large metropolitan area are higher.
The cost of Invisalign on Long Island ranges between $4500 and $7500, depending on the number of aligners required for your treatment. When there are significant orthodontic issues that need to be corrected, you can expect the expense to be at the higher end of this range, while more minor misalignment issues are at the lower end.
For the sake of comparison, traditional metal braces range between $3000 and $7000. (Many patients are under the impression that Invisalign is much more expensive than traditional braces, but as you can see, this is not always the case. Sometimes Invisalign is even less than metal braces!)
Paying for Invisalign
Even knowing that the cost of Invisalign compares favorably to metal braces, it still requires a large investment. The good news is that more and more dental insurance plans are covering Invisalign treatment. If your dental insurance plan covers the cost of orthodontia, it is likely that it also covers at least some of the cost of Invisalign. Contact your insurance carrier to find out if they cover Invisalign and how much of the cost they will pay; we can also help you with this and we will provide you with an estimate prior to treatment that outlines what your dental insurance plan is expected to pay and what you can expect to pay out-of-pocket.
Remember, too, that for any costs your dental insurance doesn’t cover, you can use funds from your flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA). We also offer affordable financing through CareCredit, which you can apply for through our office, and a Smile Shack in-house discount plan.
Most patients are surprised to learn that Invisalign is more affordable than they thought—and once they’ve completed their treatment, they all agree that their beautiful new smiles are well worth the cost.
